I have decided to start a new thread to discuss the infamous Frazetta Eowyn and Angmar drawings. Elfhild, you know there are other paintings we can discuss besides these two. However, to do that, we might have to go to an adult rated board host. *wicked, wicked grin* ;D Just jesting, of course. ;D Not necessarily... That is the way I always pictured Eowyn in Second Darkness, especially the scene where she is decapitating the fell beast. What a... a.... a great.... hmmmm.... yes! .... sword style! ;D

Frazett'a ability to capture motion is unsurpassed.
About Eowyn...if he's that close & it comes as a surprise he's dealing with a chick, he's got problems.
It would be fun, I think, to have a virtual gallery of Nazgul art. The braindead gal who redrew all the various Nazgul (and other LOTR folk) as characters from "The Lion King" should get a pass, though.

Oh, and another Frazetta classic:
Death Dealer
You can get a Death Dealer Wraith Ring at the Frazetta museum. Hmmm. There've been various 'backstories' for DD, all of which are...familiar.
But to me, I always think of Khamul. He seems like what Khamul at least wants to be.

Khazar, yes, the only thing that mars the appeal of the picture is that Eowyn was dressed as a man when she fought at Pelennor. With that in mind, one really wonders how the Rohirric men were dressing, if Eowyn was mistaken for a man... I have seen the "Death Dealer" painting before on other sites. Sometimes it is labeled as one of the Nine or the Mouth of Sauron.

There's a whole series of Death Dealer paintings--14 or 15, I think, and he's usually doing his job, which of course means menacing & killing. He lurks a lot, too.
And of course there's a comic book for him, and novels, probably all of which will be at Comiccon. If I'm near someone who has them I'll check them out. Bud Plant ( I think he has a website) almost certainly carries them; he seems to have everything else.
To me he seems like Khamul, but I suppose Gothmog is also a possibility. The thing about Gothmog is that he seems to be a solid general/second in command, not a loner.

Did that post twice? My cat was wandering on the keyboard, and causing all sorts of mischief.

Did that post twice? My cat was wandering on the keyboard, and causing all sorts of mischief. No, Khazar, the cat didn't do that much mischief. You posted only once. The "Death Dealer" is sometimes said to be the Mouth of Sauron.

Thanks for posting the links, Elfhild. I have seen the first one before, but not the second one. When I look at it, one thing bothers me (apart from the lack of pants on our heroine ) and it is why Angmar's legs and bare arms are visible while his face is not??? And I still prefer Allor's version of the scene: allor.ramot.ru/images/humor/ang-vin.jpg

Agan, I have always been very fond of everything Allor has done. There is nothing more droll out there than Allor.
Frazetta, now... he has a certain... basic appeal. There is the rustic beauty of Eowyn, who has given her best, only to have failed... before the superior might represented by the Witch-king... the amazon warrior turns rapidly into the damsel in distress
Now the Witch-king - how else could Eowyn's rampant sweetness be met other than by the pure might and brawn shown in those hands and arms?
Does this picture have anything much to do with actual Tolkien "canon?" What difference does it make? It's a darn good picture. ;D
