Since September, the ninth month, is coming up, and this is the year 2009, I thought it would be interesting to have a "Nine Nazgul in 2009" story writing challenge. I just created a challenge on LOTR Fanfiction, since they allow quick n' easy user created challenges. I don't know if the challenge will get any bites... I'm praying there won't be any stupid crack comedy fics involving the Nine opening open a can of beans and having an impromptu concerto... www.lotrfanfiction.com/modules/challenges/challenges.php?chalid=83

You now officially have a response: Gentlemen's Agreement.
I've posted it at HA, SoA too. Hope you like it!

Khazar, unfortunately the story on HASA is invisible. Did you check "public" before you posted the chapter? Elfhild posted a chapter a few weeks back to HASA and forgot to make it public. We only found out about it because we kept getting hits on the chapter from the week before, but no one was reading the new material. Elfhild and I are looking forward to reading the story.

I set it to Public, but I also set it to Review.
I put it at Stories of Arda & at the Tolkien site where Elfhild made her original challenge.

Khazar, thanks for responding to my challenge. I'm glad to see that you are writing once again. Perhaps you will write more in the future...? Poor Earnur, what a fate, to be as armless as the Black Knight in Monty Python and the love toy for endless female orcs. Your theory of why Earnur was childless is very interesting. Perhaps homosexuality was one reason why the Gondorians were fewer in number than they once were - they were all gay. ;D Unfortunately, your story doesn't show up on my challenge page. That should be easy to fix, though. (I think - I've never done this before) Go to 9 for 2009 challenge page, then click on Respond to This Challenge. It should show you a list of stories with a check box. Check "Gentlemen's Agreement" and then click Submit. This should get you listed.

Khazar, if you are planning on submitting the story for review at HASA, I will be delighted to add a review. Just let me know. Your writing has been sorely missed, and it was great seeing a new story from you. You have always been able to add a novel approach to subjects that are often overlooked or ignored by other writers. Few see the charm in female orcs. ;D Possibly these gals might be able to strengthen and improve the Gondorian bloodline. I hope to see more stories from you.

Naughty Angmar! You know we're not supposed to solicit reviews! Doesn't say anything about begging, though... I had been kicking this idea around for a long time. Yesterday the voices took over. I wrote in one sitting, with only a couple of minor changes afterwards (spellcheck is not always my friend.) You know Herumor won't be too happy about his sword. It's a given that Earnur's children will have his brawn; if they're lucky they won't have his brains. I do have an epilogue of sorts for it. Not certain if I'll post it. Maybe I'll put my drabbles into the challenge, too. Tokien pretty much said Earnur was gay. He delighted in men, and fighting, and men, and training, and men, and would not touch women. With a civil war just ended, the north in ruins (due to their actions) Gondor was not in a position to have another free-for-all for the throne. If Dol Amroth tried to claim it, the Steward could always argue he was merely tending to the affairs of the kingdom, not claiming the throne as a king. Obviously the Watchful Peace was a mutual agreement. Otherwise it wouldn't have lasted. It only goes away when Sauron returns.

I just uploaded my Fornost drabble. When it shows up I'll put it in the challenge, too. I did manage to make Gentlemen's Agreement into an Official Challenge Response.
A couple of the reviews so far are...interesting.

Looks like I have to repost Fornost. Maybe I can get the Elven Arrow story up, too. I was always partial to that one. The more I think about an epilogue, the less I like it. I'll leave it alone. Besides, Tolkien said Earnur died in "torment" in Minas Morgul. I think a gaggle of lusty lady orcs would probably qualify as torment. Eventually, anyway.

Khazar, "begging for reviews." *chuckles* I see you need only 3 more reviews. I don't think there will be any problem in making the quota. However, I can't find your other stories. Where are they?
