Khazar, it's a shame about having a crash and losing your links. What was the name of the story?

She was just calling it "Rescue" or the rescue story.

Hey! Guess what! I Found it on my computer! Now where do I send it? She didn't think it was ready for prime time, so not on a fanfic site.

The Silmarillion Writers Guild is having a special called "Akallabeth in August." New stories set in the Second Age are being added every day. I have read two so far, "Sacrifice" by Surgical Steel and "How the East Was Won" by Pandemonium_213. "Sacrifice" is an interesting take on some of the more "advanced" Numenorean practices of medicine. *grins* "How the East was Won" takes place after Sauron rejects the Valar's offer after Melkor's downfall. Sauron heads East and offers his aid to the primitive tribes. It's not one of those "charming gap fillers." (I hate that term.) It's a robust tale full of action and blood. Here is the list of all the stories: www.silmarillionwritersguild.org/akallabeth-in-august/

That's a gorgeous site. Might just tempt me to contribute. What about you?

Khazar, yes, I am very tempted to contribute, but I honestly don't have the time. I have been five years writing the book series, and I don't seem much closer to finishing it than I did a couple years ago. I am still invited to join RPGs, ones which I would really like to join, but again, I do not have the time. So much to do, so little time.
That's a great site. The kind of stories I like. I have always been a great admirer of the Silmarillion, and found that there are stories which are begging to be written that Tolkien never covered.
I know that Elfhild's fertile imagination will go wild on that comment. (That girl is a corrupting force. ;D )

Ever since seeing the image on this page, I've dreamed of writing a Sauron/Ar-Pharazon slash. www.minibite.com/oldies/ss.htmAr-Pharazon the Golden is on the left, while Sauron (well, this scrawny fellow hardly looks like Dark Lord material, so pretend the second figure in the bath is really a handsome Maia) is on the right. They are discussing the planned attack on Valinor, determining the best stratagems to use by playing wargames with toy ships and soldiers. They are also playing a VERY naughty game of footsy beneath all those soap suds.... ;D

Pandemonium_213 has written another story about Sauron in the Second Age. In this one, Sauron returns after the fall of Númenor, where he is met by the Black Captain and some other Nazgûl. Great portrayal here on the Nazgûl and Sauron. Highly recommended. (Gads, I wish I had written it!) www.silmarillionwritersguild.org/akallabeth-in-august/34-1.php

And I've found another one by elfscribe about Sauron, the WK and Numenor: www.silmarillionwritersguild.org/archive/home/viewstory.php?sid=505&chapter=1 I like how it unfolds, but I hate the name "Dolgu"... Eventually it will lead to Sauron-Pharazon slash, I bet, so watch it Elfhild! ;D

Agan, SWG is truly a wonderful site, and I have been enjoying "Akallabeth in August" very much. There are some really gifted writers who contribute. Unfortunately, I, too, do not have much time, and still have not finished all the special selections, but am planning to read them all. By all means, post the link on NK. I don't like the sound of "Dolgu" either. Sounds like something made out of fish that isn't tasty. ;D Although it is Adunaic, it also is a Romanian name meaning "long." ;D
