Hi
I've been trying to read this at HA. I say "trying" because it's clearly the product of people with wildly divergent ideas.
The Hill chief is more of an Orc than my old neighbor was--he was the guy who slaughtered his own animals in the yard, had a variety of women & children in various states of reproduction, had a mountain of beer cans in the back and three cars on blocks. He was friendly enough, although you never wanted to be downwind.
I would expect the Hillmen to be like the Visigoths or the Franks in their hopeless pursuit of a Byzantine princess: getting a Dunedain bride would be the brass ring, the proof that You Have Arrived To The Status Of Men.
Instead we get a man who seems to have gone to the Edward Teach Charm School. It's just...wrong.

It was Angmar who wrote for Broggha, but as another participant of this RPG (Gordis) I can say that for my tastes he seems quite allright. He is the head of an unruly band of merceneries and brigands - hardly different from orcs in their attitude (remember the 14 century France?) and a cruel leader impresses and frightens them. Later you will see (if you have patience to read further) that Broggha is quite capable of holding his own in the King's Private Council and in the noble feasting hall. He is simply highly adaptable to the situation. That is how I see him, at least. How did you like /dislike my Algeirr?

How did you like /dislike my Algeirr? Algeirr seemed like the typical guy trying to get along in life.

The character of Broggha was pretty well cut and dry when Northern Kingdom began, and it did not lend itself to development. The leader of the hillmen, a bloody and brutal man who had risen to the top through force of his personality and unscrupulous tactics, Broggha was one bad dude. You can read the background description of Broggha and some of his deeds here: z3.invisionfree.com/The_Northern_Kingdom/index.php?showtopic=6Besides forcing the king's fifteen-year-old daughter to be his bride, Broggha systematically wiped out any contender for the throne. As Agan says, though, he could show himself adept at political maneuvering and strategy, serving on the king's council and exerting a lot of influence there. The other characters, such as Agan's Algierr, were original and not set in a mold. I had hoped that by the time that the roleplay ended that only or maybe two of the original outlaws would be left to tell the tale. Unfortunately, illness cut my plans short.

Oh, Angmar, I so hope you will be able to come over to NK soon! There has been some revival yesterday... Earniel posted. I hope to write a post tomorrow. But we desperately need you and Elfhild to continue on the main plot.
We are going so slow now that it won't be much of a strain to participate, I believe. Please....

Agan, I am hopeful that I can get back to Northern Kingdom. One of my greatest problems is my eyesight, which was not the best before I got diabetes. I miss NK and all the people. Maybe I could do some shorter contributions.

Oh, Angmar - any contribution from you will be greatly appreciated. It will make our day. Perhaps you and Elfhild could bring to a close this plotline with the captured Nauremir's friend and also take Dol Hithaer? I am there with Celemir and I will help.

Maybe I could do some shorter contributions. Have they been trying different things for you? Dilating the eyes, new glasses, etc? My new progressive glasses are useless with the computer but OK everywhere else. They can fit you with special computer glasses. And you can always make the font bigger. My sister had to do that after she had her stroke.

Khazar, I have scarring in my eyes, which I have to look around. Probably laser surgery could help, but I don't look forward to that. I am hoping some new glasses will provide some relief. Maybe later this year. (At least I can see better than most of the Nazgûl. *grins*)
